Taking the plunge in Spain

I sometimes thought about swimming pools that I had used in the world, and considered what happened to them in the winter. The summer months benefit from all of the preparation, and then down come the winter months. There are those who will swim bravely throughout the year whatever the temperature. You continue with your established summer routine, which is probably the best thing to do.

A friend of mine got married and moved to a property in Alicante in Spain. The garden looked like a penitentiary, and there was no sign of a swimming pool. He didn’t care a jot, and with British determination, set to work with the plans for a pool in his rocky garden. When you have a swimming pool many things swirl through your mind like what swimming pool parts that are required to keep it in good shape.

I noticed in some of my first visits out to the place, how difficult is was to get the right people for the job, who had patience. Obviously there was a bit of a language problem, but not enough to do any real damage. He was able to get the use of local workers with knowledge of the area, whose ruggedness would defeat most garden tools. The pool engineering was one of the stiffest challenges that he was presented with. Try as he may, he couldn’t find the swimming pool boiler engineers that he needed at an affordable price. He elected to have a go on his own. He thought is should be like doing some DIY on your car – find a Haynes manual and away you go. Sadly Haynes haven’t produced one for swimming pools yet, so it was a bit tougher to achieve. Oddly enough the simplest of all the tasks was installing the swimming pool solar heating , which was well worth the effort and will save a great deal of money in the long run.
